US-Iran War: The Control For Strait Of Hormuz | Discussion & Analysis

14 July 2026

West Asia expert Dr. Khinvraj Jangid said the escalating U.S.-Iran confrontation over the Strait of Hormuz has become a major global concern, with the dispute now extending beyond Iran's nuclear programme to the security of one of the world's most vital shipping routes. He argued that U.S. plans to impose charges for safe passage through the Strait are unlikely to work as attacks on commercial shipping continue, while ongoing missile and drone strikes have heightened regional instability. Dr. Jangid warned that the involvement of Iran-backed groups such as the Houthis, uncertainty surrounding U.S.-Iran negotiations, and continued attacks across the Gulf could prolong the conflict, disrupt global energy supplies, and deepen the economic impact on countries dependent on the Strait of Hormuz, including India.
